Even being downtown right by the highway couldn't help Floyd.

That's the Baptist Church over on Jordon Street. Folks give what they can.

That's a shed out at Ted Humphrey's farm. If you stand on the roof you can see half way to Oklahoma. Don't blame Ted because the corn didn't come up. He is a good farmer. We just didn't get any rain.

That's Ed's Place. Ed has the best hamburgers in town. Throw in an RC cola and a Moon Pie and you'll think you died and went to Heaven.

Sometimes you have to hit things down at the rail road tracks. When you do you need a big hammer because you have to hit them hard.

Damned Hip Hoppers have found their way out here to Big Stink. We've got our eyes out for them.

Things can be slow here in Big Stink. That's just fine with me.

A Low Down Dirty Shame

I hope they caught the low down muderin' skunks that did William in and hanged them. I hope they caught the rascals that knocked over William's headstone too. It is time to leave poor William alone.

We don't have a dry cleaner out here in Big Stink but we do have a laundromat. Clean clothes will cost you $1.25. Dry clothes will cost you another $1.00

The corn never did come up this year. It takes more than sun and dirt to grow corn. You need water too.

I think that old building was winking at me.

Don't blame me

Don't blame me for this mess. I didn't do it. The folks at blogger have been fiddling about and many of my pictures are missing. If they are unable to correct the problem, it is going to take me weeks to sort this mess out. I am not happy.

That's up the road a ways in Bartlett. Things are as tough there as they are in Big Stink. Hard times tend to be contagious.

That's outside of Ed's Place. Things are pretty quiet out there since Ed closed up his hamburger joint. You can still get a good hamburger here in Big Stink, just not at Ed's.

If you are good at putting up plywood or laying brick you can still find work here in Big Stink.

Saturday, July 16, 2011

There are more boarded up stores and windows in Big Stink than you can shake a stick at. Well, that's not true. Still, it would take you some time if you had a notion to walk around and shake a stick at them.

Monday, July 11, 2011

If you keep taking pictures around Big Stink sooner or later you will get a picture of a windmill. It can't be helped.

Thursday, July 7, 2011

Put down the soda and step away from the funnel cake.

Monday, July 4, 2011

If this is how God blesses Texas, I think we can do without.

Sunday, July 3, 2011

That's a real road. Folks live down there. Somehow back when they decided to start paving roads around here they missed that one.

Monday, June 27, 2011

There is still no corn out there. You need water to grow corn. There isn't a whole lot of water in Big Stink these days. From what they are telling us, there won't be water any time soon. It's too bad you can't grow water. If you could, folks out here would make a fortune.

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

You used to be able to buy your liquor there. You can't anymore. They're closed. Folks get their liquor at the shiny new liquor store on Main Street or they make their own. Rumor has it that Bonnie and Clyde once robbed that place.

Monday, February 14, 2011

It won't be long until the corn comes up. When it does, those poles will have some company.

Thursday, February 10, 2011

That's Buford. He's staying out back of Doc Parker's for awhile. If your pig is ailing, Doc Parker is the man to see in Big Stink. Someone is probably going to eat Buford one of these days. It won't be me.
